CELEBRATE 80 YEARS OF FREEDOM IN EERDE

Every year we celebrate in Eerde that the liberation started on September 17, 1944 with the landing of hundreds of paratroopers from the 501 Parachute Infantry Regiment.
In September 2024 we will celebrate this for the 80th time, together with you. What can you expect in Eerde?

Commemoration of the liberation
Like every year on September 17, there is again the famous commemoration at the Geronimo monument. The commemoration starts at 7:00 PM. Among those present are numerous guests from home and abroad, including the Color Guard and troops of the 101st Airborne Division and family members of our liberators.
During the commemoration there will be speeches and wreaths and flowers will be laid. The ceremony is musically supported by the Music Society Meierijstad and musicians of the 101ste Airborne Division. As usual, the children of the Petrus en Paulus School also play an important role in the ceremony.

Liberation Task Force

Liberation Task Force (LTF)
A group of more than 100 re-enactors from the English Liberation Task Force is building a camp with 35 vehicles and associated guns in Eerde behind the Geronimo monument. The showpiece is a Sexton artillery tank. This artillery section from LTF is actually the well-known Garrison or Garrison Artillery Volunteers that is made up of English, Belgian and Dutch members. Most of which are currently serving in the army or on leave or are ex-military.
The vehicles will arrive in Eerde on Monday, September 16 at approximately 9:00 AM. You are invited to welcome the procession. At the monument a speaker will explain the vehicles that pass by.
After the camp has been set up, it is accessible to the public free of charge. The opening hours are:
- Monday September 16, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
- Tuesday, September 17, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
On Wednesday, September 18 at 9:30 AM the group will leave again to continue its way via Hell's Highway. You are cordially invited to wave the Artillery group goodbye.
